Yesterday evening 12 children and their adults joined us to play some Maths games and have a cup of tea! We loved playing the hoop game, rolling long play dough sausages, drawing 10 lovely things and representing numbers in different ways. Maths at home doesn’t have to be tricky, boring or on worksheets!

AimHigher Maths Day
4 of our Year 4 children spent the day at Ireland Wood Primary on Thursday working on their ‘Maths Magic’. With a focus on efficiency they were working on the quickest ways to get to the answer along with lots of puzzles and magic games. The children had a fantastic day and a big thank you to Mrs Howard for going with them!
A big welcome to our STEM students from the University of Leeds
We are so lucky to have 3 fantastic Maths and Chemistry students from the University of Leeds who are volunteering with groups of children across Key Stage 2. Our focus with these students has been to inspire and enrich the learning of those children needing challenge, particularly girls in those later years.
Year 1 Maths Games night

Primary Maths Challenge
This last week some of our strongest Mathematicians across Years 4-6 have been having a go at the first round of the Primary Maths Challenge. It’s been fantastic to see them really testing themselves in the face of tricky reasoning. Mrs Bentley has been kindly facilitating this.
Collaborative Word Problems
Today in Maths to finish off our unit on Addition and Subtraction (for now…) we have been working in groups to solve some word problems or ‘number stories’ using the reasoning line to scaffold our thinking.
Year 1 practical learning
In year 1 the children have been really hands on with their learning. We have been using our double sided counters to support our learning surrounding part-part-whole. We have also been using our hands to show one part, another part and bringing them together to show the whole.
Amazing Everyday Maths!

Today at Tykeoons club
Today at Tykeoons club we have been learning about commodities, goods and services and we have been thinking about the value of these different things.
We also thought about the fact that there are things that money cant buy such as friends and happiness.
Tykeoons – Business, Economics and Finance club
Tonight was the first meeting of our Year 3 ‘Business, Economics and Finance Club’ in Mrs Tatam-Hall’s classroom.
